Howdy folks! This here is my big piece for the show this month at the Alcove gallery in Atlanta. It comes in at a whopping 36 x 40 inches!
This is, of course, based on the famous painting of Napoleon crossing the Alps and you can see the original here - [link]
The background on this one gave me fits and all the repainting on it probably added about 12 hours of extra work on this one for me. I originally had the background cliffs in browns like the foreground, but they blended in too much with the ones in the front so I decided to change the color. It still took two tries to get the color like I wanted it, and then the dinosaur kinda sunk back into the background too much and I had to punch him up as well. I'm still not totally happy with it, but I had to just call it finished and move on.
In case you're wondering, FF + WS is Fred Flintstone (duh) and Wilma Slaghoople. Wilma's maiden name was referred to a few times during the run of the series but it was always different. I liked the ring of Slaghoople though. I guess back then they weren't too concerned with continuity like folks who do tv shows and comics and stuff nowadays. As a matter of fact, Fred's boss Mr. Slate had like 5 or 6 different first names throughout the run of the show!
